> DESCRIPTION

Since 2007, The Attleboro Arts Museum has been an active partner in the City of  Attleboro’s The Big Read/Attleboro’s 1 ABC (1 Adventure, 1 Book, 1 Community) reading initiative, where participants are encouraged to read the same book at the same time – and extend their connection to the chosen text through local arts and culture activities. This fall, Attleboro will be reading Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried, considered by many to be among the finest books about the Vietnam War.

An invitational exhibition entitled Carry On at the Attleboro Arts Museum will serve as the finale to this year’s 1ABC programming.  The exhibition will run from November 18th to December 4th, 2010.  Carry On contains artwork that directly responds to O’Brien’s text, along with work that addresses what soldiers, families, nations and others carry – literally and  figuratively –  during (and after) a time of war.
