MOGEN WE OOK TIJDELIJK (...) Een ode aan het onvolmaakte
MAY WE ALSO TEMPORARILY (...) A tribute to imperfection
"The world is controllable, so we'll make it better". In ‘May we also temporarily (...)’ art offers alternatives for this almost endless believe in progress.
With the discovery of human reason we started to believe the world is a manageable process, which over time develops towards higher stages of perfection. But this rational approach of the world seems to leave no room for things that cannot be understood from our logical framework. Hence we tend to neglect those things we cannot predict, nor control.
By drawing attention to processes in which construction and destruction, growth and decay, control and coincide are part of one whole, arts pays tribute to the unfinished, the uncontrollable and temporality, in other words: a tribute to imperfection.
