UWF PRESENTS "PAPERWORKS: ON AND OF PAPER"
PENSACOLA - The University of West Florida Art Gallery will present "Paperworks: On and Of Paper" Feb. 16 through March 14, with an opening reception to be held Feb. 16 from 6 to 8 pm. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the gallery is open one hour prior to all CFPA events. Admission to the gallery for the opening reception and during regular gallery hours is free and open to the public.
"Paperworks" is a biannual nationally juried exhibition featuring 40 works by 32 artists from around the country. The exhibit was juried by Carol Pulin, director of the American Print Alliance and editor of the magazine "Contemporary Impressions." Exploring the art of paper, entrants were accepted in any medium, traditional or experimental, on or of paper. Featured works include photography, collage, watercolor, prints, etchings, silkscreen, digital media, drawing, paper mache and sculpture.
"The variety of styles and mediums of the entries were wonderful," said Holly Collins, Art Gallery director. "The pieces chosen represent the full range of what can be done on and about paper. I think there is something in the exhibit that will appeal to everyone."
Participants in the exhibit include Michael Marling de Cuellar, a 1984 UWF alumnus and current faculty member at North Georgia State College and University; Sunshine Gorman, a 2006 UWF alumnus; Joelle Dietrick, a faculty member at Florida State University; and several current UWF faculty members.
