Eva Löfdahl\, born 1953\, debuted in the early 19 80s with the Wallda group. She continues to be considered one of Sweden's m ost interesting contemporary artists for her often understated and indefina ble objects and installations. Her exhibition at Moderna Museet in 2011 was widely acclaimed and gained international attention.

Ev a Löfdahl's artworks embody the wish to communicate\, though not necessaril y to be explained or deciphered. They engage in the physical world enthusia stically. Not only the physical world we see and feel\, but that which is h idden within the layers of terrestrial mass and the emission of unseen wave s. Entropic time\, the slow grinding timescale of erosion\, is engendered i n Löfdahl's arrangements of sculptural objects\, though not at the monument al scale to which Robert Smithson refers\, but rather eclectic and inscruta ble.

Eva Löfdahl's new exhibition at the gallery compri ses essentially three categories of work. Antennae project from the gallery walls\, their outer-most fingers suggesting biomimicry or handmade shapes in putty - their form an unlikely confluence of the organic and manufacture d. In the work Pearls of Circulation an elliptical line of discrete plaster clumps on the gallery floor\, embedded with shells and coins (thems elves both forms of currency)\, suggest the path of a terrestrial asteroid. In the work Few Things Reach the Surface a series of plaster slabs depict strata\, perhaps from the seams of the earth\, and infer a paleontol ogical analysis or simply reveal that which can be identified on the surfac e.
