Joseph Cilia (b. 1987, Pieta' - Malta)
Joseph Cilia is a young Maltese Artist whose work simply oozes passion and life. The artist who has been exploring art as a self-development mechanism since the age of 12, developed a style that is full of energy and motion makes use of contrasting colours in order to express the deep emotion in his thoughts.
The subjects generally being from the natural world, or rather animals or plants that are given a semi-mythological aura to them. This is done in order to express the artist’s views on life per se and generally symbolize something deep and archetypal, a typical example of this would be the painting titled True Self, in which Cilia makes use of the image of the horse in order to comment in a subtle way on the importance of being sincere to one’s own nature in life, and the beauty of expressing who one is in accordance to who he was born to be – one’s true self without the masks that society pressures us to wear every day. Thus figures and to a certain degree even the style of painting as in the stress and dynamics of the paintings add to the emotion that the particular painting is trying to express.
Joseph Cilia is offering a wide variety of originals for sale in the ArtSlant Salesroom (here).
