Nancy Cicchetti (b. Ross, California)
I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. My mediums of choice are oils for painting and etching and monotypes for printmaking. My oils are fairly large and allow for building up layers of color and glazes. My prints are more detail oriented- utilizing aquatint for shading and multiple drops of my monotypes. My artistic process begins with an idea, a spark- some photo I find or come across that compels me to incorporate it into a painting. Some images are so strong, that I go on to use them in my prints. I am always looking around for inspiration, from people, street scenes, nature and reflections. There is always more going on in my paintings then what you see at first glance. There is a story that I begin and then the viewer completes.
Education: B.A, S.F. State University, 1995.
