Tim Colleran (b. 1952, Oshawa)
"I can't remember not painting, carving, silk-screening, printing or doing ceramics. I am fortunate to have a wealth of life experiences of which the monoprint project is the latest. Two key events (concerning abstract painting and monoprinting) are responsible for this recent work. In the late 60's I signed up at every opportunity for local art gallery youth programs and artist workshops. At a painting workshop taught by local artist Bill Lynch, the seed was planted that would become my future appreciation of abstract art. Concurrently another local artist, Peter Van Gils generously introduced his son Phillip (and friends) to monoprinting. It is to these passions that I have returned. In recent years one of these friends, Chris Kahn and I have reconnected and Chris has been instrumental in getting this project off the ground. I find monoprinting a very rewarding process, producing relatively fast feedback with a huge creative potential. The process gives back a large measure of the effort put in and I intend to turn over every stone."
Tim Colleran is offering a wide variety of originals and fine art prints for sale in the ArtSlant Salesroom (here).
