7 IN OUT FESTIVAL 2013
Animations / Documents / Etudes Film / Experiments / Video / Concerts
The festival evaluates every year in search of the most recent problems faced by young artists. To meet the expectations and needs of the seventh edition of the festival, we want to try to connect artists with different approaches to the medium of film and education. We want to create a platform for understanding between artists who graduated from art academies and those who have studied in film schools. It is also noticeable distinction between the different film schools and academies. Competition, Festival and workshops we want to start a dialogue between artists and schools and academies. So that in the future they can work together on projects consciously using their strengths.
The theme of this year’s festival and competition is “Translating the present: contemporary forms of rebellion”. What groups and movements can be considered 21st-century rebel? What forms can be used as a modern means of protest? What does it really mean to rebel today? What are we protesting against? What do we want to prove or change? What is the state of the contemporary world? We seek answers to questions and concerns that worry today’s generation of 20- and 30-year-olds, and thus diagnose the condition of the modern world from their perspective. We consider how they will evaluate the next generation, and what the world of the rebel will look like in 20 years.
The competition will be divided into two stages. Approximately 20 artists
from Poland and abroad will be shortlisted for the second stage of the competition and will be invited to attend the festival in Gdańsk and workshops.
From among these artists, a winner will be selected by a jury comprising
Wojciech Marczewski, Marina Grižnić and Bogna Burska.
