The Texas Contemporary art fair features presentations from 65 galleries showcasing contemporary work from the most innovative, progressive and driven artists from around the world.
As the excitement continues to build with Texas Contemporary just a few weeks away, we are thrilled to give our fairgoers an idea of what they can expect to see at the George R. Brown Convention Center this October 18-21, 2012.
PREVIEW BENEFITING CONTEMPORARY ARTS MUSEUM HOUSTON
An exclusive benefit preview party will kick off the fair on Thursday, October 18th, 2012 with the proceeds going to benefit the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston and we look forward to producing a spectacular event in their honor. Guests who are interested in purchasing a Preview Pass may enjoy the evening in its entirety from 6pm-9:30pm.
THE TEXAS CONTEMPORARY AWARD
This segment will showcase artists who are navigating new and innovative directions in contemporary art. Participating galleries will have the opportunity to have an artist considered by LACMA’s Chief Curator of Contemporary Art, Franklin Sirmans and CAMH Director, Bill Arning. The winner will receive a cash prize of $10,000 and will be the focus of a public conversation held at the CAMH in the months following the fair. www.txcontemporary.com/tca

In keeping with our desire to enrich exhibitor and visitor experiences alike, Texas Contemporary is pleased to announce the return of our Installations & Discussion Series.

On-site bidding will begin at the fair Thursday, October 18th. 100% of the proceeds from each piece will be donated to its corresponding beneficiary. We are pleased to welcome ArtBridge Houston, Art League Houston, Aurora Picture Show, Blaffer Art Museum, DiverseWorks and Lawndale Art Center as our 2012 MRKTworks beneficiaries.
