It is hard to take any exhibition with a grandiose title such as Photography Since the Millennium seriously, but then again, we are just fifteen years into this new millennium. And there have not been any major strides in photography since the new millennium except for, well, the death of analogue, and video is accessible to all. Goodbye film, hello pixels. Has there been one year since the new millennium that has not seen a new release of cameras with enhanced numbers of pixels? It is the mega... [more]

by
MAUREN BRODBECK at Auer Photo Foundation, Hermance, Swirtzerland January 22nd, 2015 - February 27th, 2015

Written By Amma Aburam There is no better way to describe Mauren Brodbeck than as a bold, multifaceted artist. From paintings, collages and photography to acting and singing, there is no artistic avenue she has not explored and mastered. The Horyou team had the opportunity to attend one of her shows in Geneva last month. We caught up with her to ask about her creative process and how she lives to Dream, Act and Inspire. Is being such a multifaceted artist a dream come true for you? I have always love... [more]

The fair brings together the major forces of culture in the country, from galleries and institutions to established artists and curators working both locally and globally. The exhibition is good, and congrats to the artist. A good friend of mine told me a rather disturbing story recently. He had been working with scott for years, and scott has helped him a great deal. Recently scott has not been able to sell as much art to pay his bills and has resorted to throwing events to sustain his gallery. Scott openly admits his failure, in his bathroom there is a painting that says 'BLACKBALL' which he says he got an employee to make in order to remind him how his ex-wife ha... [more]

Larissa Aharoni “Vivi Sepultura” - F_AIR November 26, 2013 - February 14, 2014 Larissa Aharoni's immersive video installation “Vivi Sepultura”, her first video-project and conclusive work of her residency stay at F_AIR, is a meditation on the sense of individual responsibility for all human beings and a condition of memory. Not a memory in the literal sense but a memory retained within the material, indentations or scars, which tell a story of violent and repetitious actio... [more]

By Margaret Meehan http://glasstire.com/2011/01/23/flotsam-and-feedbackfeedbacklooploop-at-500x/ On a cold and (believe it or not) snowy day in Dallas, Texas I found myself at the entrance of 500X Gallery on the last day of Flotsam, an exhibition of work by Christine Bisetto and Kerry Pacillio. I was familiar with Bisetto’s work and was making it a point to see the show despite the growing cold and my 3-hour drive back to Austin. The show is down now so I’m glad I did get to see it... ‘Annunciation’ by Tom Estes, one of the winners of Art Venice 2013, selected by The Biennale Project for The Venice Biennale. The title of the work ‘Annunciation’ is a Biblical term which means the announcing of ‘the incarnation’ or a materialization of the unrealized in a concrete form. The work therefore relates to multiple worlds; possible, fictional or desired worlds which though different from the one we live in, directly influences our own. The Venice Biennale (Italian: Biennale di... [more]
