20121103053100-reneelotenerotitle1 DO NOT WORK WITH PEVETO
by
Renée Lotenero at PEVETO November 2nd, 2012 - December 15th, 2012

The exhibition is good, and congrats to the artist. A good friend of mine told me a rather disturbing story recently. He had been working with scott for years, and scott has helped him a great deal. Recently scott has not been able to sell as much art to pay his bills and has resorted to throwing events to sustain his gallery. Scott openly admits his failure, in his bathroom there is a painting that says 'BLACKBALL' which he says he got an employee to make in order to remind him how his ex-wife ha... [more]

‘Annunciation’ by Tom Estes, one of the winners of Art Venice 2013, selected by The Biennale Project for The Venice Biennale. The title of the work ‘Annunciation’ is a Biblical term which means the announcing of ‘the incarnation’ or a materialization of the unrealized in a concrete form. The work therefore relates to multiple worlds; possible, fictional or desired worlds which though different from the one we live in, directly influences our own. The Venice Biennale (Italian: Biennale di... [more]

A Portrait of the Psyche Persona is a word that can mean that aspect or part of one’s personality that is deliberately shown to the world, or in the Jungian sense, and hearkening back to the etymology of the word (from the Greek “prosōpon”), a theatrical mask which covers the wearer. In the current exhibition at the Therese A. Maloney Gallery, director and curator Dr. Virginia Fabbri Butera, by choosing this particular word as both the theme and the title, has opened a dual v... I've never seen an exhibit at the Textile Center that I didn't like.  But, this exhibit was particularly impressive.  The variety of techniques used to create fabulous wearable and unwearable fiber art engaged an unusual amount of contemporary technology.  I enjoyed Jackie and Uosis complex design techniques that use photography, Adobe Photoshop layers and an industrial size ink-jet printer to print design on fabric.  The results are simple forms with sophisticated, interesting surface design pr... by
Theresa Durant at ‘La Casita Del Arte’ art studio and gallery June 8th, 2009 - June 28th, 2009

I had the pleasure of meeting Theresa Durant in Hamburg, Germany at the Marziart Gallery in May of 2009~ This beautiful photographer photographs florals in a way that I have never seen before.  I must admit that florals are generally not my favorite forms of photography, as I prefer black and white film photography, but being in Hamburg at the time I was drawn to the gallery to view all the works.  Theresa Durant's florals have a sensuous feel to them.  They are elegant, almost alive.  At times I... Pict0024_12 John Glick; Juror Statement

Platters & Pourers Jurors Statement I want to thank all artists who submitted to the Platters and Pourers exhibition. It was a pleasure to be able to see the many fine examples of these two distinctive venues presented for viewing. And, as I had hoped, there was a great deal of variety in approach to interpreting these concepts. Some entries bypassed the function aspect that could be implied in these two “functional” categories to render sculptural interpretations. The open-minded attitudes and joyfu... [more]
