The exhibition is good, and congrats to the artist. A good friend of mine told me a rather disturbing story recently. He had been working with scott for years, and scott has helped him a great deal. Recently scott has not been able to sell as much art to pay his bills and has resorted to throwing events to sustain his gallery. Scott openly admits his failure, in his bathroom there is a painting that says 'BLACKBALL' which he says he got an employee to make in order to remind him how his ex-wife ha... [more]

‘Annunciation’ by Tom Estes, one of the winners of Art Venice 2013, selected by The Biennale Project for The Venice Biennale. The title of the work ‘Annunciation’ is a Biblical term which means the announcing of ‘the incarnation’ or a materialization of the unrealized in a concrete form. The work therefore relates to multiple worlds; possible, fictional or desired worlds which though different from the one we live in, directly influences our own. The Venice Biennale (Italian: Biennale di... [more]

A Portrait of the Psyche Persona is a word that can mean that aspect or part of one’s personality that is deliberately shown to the world, or in the Jungian sense, and hearkening back to the etymology of the word (from the Greek “prosōpon”), a theatrical mask which covers the wearer. In the current exhibition at the Therese A. Maloney Gallery, director and curator Dr. Virginia Fabbri Butera, by choosing this particular word as both the theme and the title, has opened a dual v... OVERLORDS BY TOM ESTES at Interlife Crisis It’s hard to remember a world without the internet. In its current pernicious state of velocity combined with a fathomless audience, the internet has become a dizzying source of daily information. According to a recent survey, we now spend almost half our waking hours either online, on the phone, or watching television. The flow of information has continued unabated and transmission of images has accelerated to become a source of daily reality for most u... [more]

The opening night began before I even entered the Moderna Building, outside a large crowd of people from the students to the dressed to impress mingling on the lower platform and crowding on the stairs -  some venturing through the very imposing doors (Doors of education and knowledge, their stature indicating that something special is about to be revealed, double doors so heavy I nearly disjoint my arm to get through), and alongside the obvious audio system that is set out along the front of the bu...
