Renée Lotenero at PEVETO November 2nd, 2012 - December 15th, 2012

The exhibition is good, and congrats to the artist. A good friend of mine told me a rather disturbing story recently. He had been working with scott for years, and scott has helped him a great deal. Recently scott has not been able to sell as much art to pay his bills and has resorted to throwing events to sustain his gallery. Scott openly admits his failure, in his bathroom there is a painting that says 'BLACKBALL' which he says he got an employee to make in order to remind him how his ex-wife ha... [more]

Marc Schmitz at Moproo Gallery April 20th, 2013 - May 2nd, 2013

"There is a Mongolian saying that artists are sky people, and to be an artist is a mission that you either follow the call for, or you don't, similar to the vocation of a shaman," said Marc Schmitz whose work is being exhibited at Shanghai's Moproo Gallery until June 2. In this exhibition, the artist presents a wide range collection of works, among them, the most recent paintings that have been completed at the Shanghai Peace Art Hotel, where he has been a resident artist for the last months of... ‘Annunciation’ by Tom Estes, one of the winners of Art Venice 2013, selected by The Biennale Project for The Venice Biennale. The title of the work ‘Annunciation’ is a Biblical term which means the announcing of ‘the incarnation’ or a materialization of the unrealized in a concrete form. The work therefore relates to multiple worlds; possible, fictional or desired worlds which though different from the one we live in, directly influences our own. The Venice Biennale (Italian: Biennale di... [more]

A Portrait of the Psyche Persona is a word that can mean that aspect or part of one’s personality that is deliberately shown to the world, or in the Jungian sense, and hearkening back to the etymology of the word (from the Greek “prosōpon”), a theatrical mask which covers the wearer. In the current exhibition at the Therese A. Maloney Gallery, director and curator Dr. Virginia Fabbri Butera, by choosing this particular word as both the theme and the title, has opened a dual v... The Art of Creation: Development of The Floor Show Exhibit Photo by Arthur Kozlovski Most people view an art show as a complete entity, with walls perfectly aligned with paintings, floors decorated with sculptures, tables loaded with fancy champagne and cheese. These facets are all part of the final presentation of an exhibition, but the process for this production is one that takes a lot of time, patience, and creativity in its own respect. Last week, I was lucky enough to be involved with... [more]

Jonathan Monaghan at Curator's Office January 14th, 2012 - February 18th, 2012

By John Anderson • January 20, 2012 A piece of advice before you step into Curator’s Office to watch Jonathan Monaghan’s new work of digitally animated video art: Suspend your ninja logic. Fans of Mortal Kombat will remember Sub-Zero as a silent masked combatant who fires ice projectiles from his hands, but in Monaghan’s video, “Sacrifice of the Mushroom Kings,” the ninja assassin has all the gusto of a bored kid at scout camp, seated in the gun turret of a Sherman tank, scrolling through his sm...
