Established Lowbrow artist Anthony Lister has been arrested in his home town, Brisbane. The Brisbane Times reports that Lister was stopped by police in the early hours of Saturday for a random breath test, and was then arrested for 12 outstanding charges related to graffiti dating back to 2009. He was later released on bail but will reappear in court on November 19. The exhibition is good, and congrats to the artist. A good friend of mine told me a rather disturbing story recently. He had been working with scott for years, and scott has helped him a great deal. Recently scott has not been able to sell as much art to pay his bills and has resorted to throwing events to sustain his gallery. The Art District on Santa Fe has a festive First Friday Open Galleries event at the beginning of every month. It is a fun street party with an eclectic mix of art lovers from newbies to collectors. All and all it is easy going without pretention. Check out the Santa Fe Arts District website for more information on the free shuttle as the traffic and parking can be heavy. The Third Friday is also a little less crowded Open Galleries Night that typically attracts more of the art collector crowd. [more]
