Rockbund Art Museum is proud to celebrate the precious and creative links that bridge the graphic arts and the practice of writing in China and the West.
Gathering contemporary engraving artworks from the Louvre collection as well as valuable masterpieces from international collections, the exhibition proposes a journey that combines powerful visual and textual constructions in Western and Chinese contemporary art. Drawings, paintings, sculptures, installations will be grouped into three main topics:
— The Power of Language and the Language of Power,
— Incarnation and Mutations,
— Poetics & Writing Space
The show will take a strong interest in anachronism, that is to say, in the way contemporary, modern and classical artworks could combine with each other — often in unexpected ways — in order to enrich their interpretation and to broaden their historical perspectives.
