ABOUT THE ECOCHIC DESIGN AWARD

The EcoChic Design Award is a sustainable fashion design competition inspiring Asia’s emerging fashion designers to create maximum appeal clothing with minimal textile waste. Designers are educated with the theory and techniques to enable them to create desirable minimal textile waste clothing. The competition puts Asia’s emerging sustainable design talent under the spotlight, creating a platform for the next generation of designers to change the pattern of fashion forever…

The EcoChic Design Award is organised by Redress, a NGO with a mission to promote environmental sustainability in Asia’s fashion industry by reducing textile waste, pollution, water and energy consumption.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION & WORKSHOP

This exhibition showcases innovative textile waste minimizing garments designed by The EcoChic Design Award Hong Kong 2012 grand finalists. The finalists used one or more of the sustainable fashion design techniques, zero-waste, up-cycling, and reconstruction to make their garments. In addition, the garments were created using factory fabric waste, supplied by Esprit, recycled denim fabrics, supplied by Central Textiles, and second-hand clothing waste, sourced from The Friends of the Earth’s Community Used Clothes Recycling Bank Scheme.

#K11 - The EcoChic Design Award Hong Kong 2012 Workshop
-- The three competition winners will hold one public workshop to help you translate the three sustainable design techniques into your own unique piece in order to ‘redress’ your own wardrobes.
