Mr Han Weiguo, was born in Beijing in 1953, and was apprenticed to Mr Qi Gong, a famous calligrapher and artistic maestro, in 1978, from whom he won recognition. Now he is a member of Farmer-labor Party, a first-grade state artist, a member of Chinese Calligraphers Association, deputy director of Central Cultural Work Committee of Farmer-labor Party, president and secretary-general of Central Academy of Calligraphy and Painting of Farmer-labor Party, and executive director and secretary-general of Research Institute of International Calligraphy and Painting of Ministry of Culture. He published Calligraphy Collection of Han Weiguo; CCTV made and broadcasted the special program of “Calligraphy Art of Han Weiguo” in 1998.

The calligraphy of Mr Han Weiguo started from Lingfei Classic, an inscription of Tang Dynasty, developing his unique style on the basis of learning famous rubbings of ancients. His calligraphy is refreshing and beautiful, gives full expression to a scholar’s style, and has been collected by National Art Museum of China, National Library, official agencies of Japan, South Korea, etc. Keen on public welfare and charity, he devotes art on the scene of charity sale of calligraphy and paintings in Children's Palace, schools, rural areas, Wenchuan earthquake…
