ROMANOVA SVETLANA-ART
by
3/31/20 Posted 3/5/09

Hello frends! I am an artist. My roots take place in St.Petersburg, which has great architecture, culture and history that influenced me once and forever. Today, in the times of technical progress, mass production and new artificial materials I search for inspiration in the foundation of the Arts - old Russian Orthodox icons, Renaissance and folk cultures. I seek out look for new shapes and images within my themes using different materials, but my favorite is glass for its plasticity and abi... [more]

Shahkaar - In Conversation with Sumaya Durrani
by
12/1/16 Posted 2/11/16

As we flock around her right after our final MA Visual Arts First Year Juries and I request some time for an interview as directed by my professor Sir Quddus Mirza (Editor of ArtNow), there is a yes and a no in the answer that I get. The word enigmatic is a constant in all the published material that I’ve read about Sumaya Durrani in my humble quest to know a bit about her and we, the visual arts Master's students frozen in the space of her eloquence, are proof that it’s true. Dur... [more]

My Featured Painting: Trot
by
4/22/16 Posted 4/22/16

The motive behind my oil painting Trot was my wish to explore tonal contrasts and arrive at a certain balance of playfulness and menace. The subject of this study is a cat, or two. Before I started my oil, I made several preliminary sketches and once I committed my ideas to the canvas, I proceeded with a cat with upright head. Somehow, after the composition had more or less taken shape, I noticed a more dynamic and emotional sketch with a cat whose head was bending down, thus I incorporated that cat in... [more]

by
4/11/16 Posted 4/11/16

Artist & Painter - Aase Birkhaug Believing that surroundings can influence one` s health and mind, Painter and Physiotherapist Aase Birkhaug has combined her two passions by painting roses for a soothing effect. Having fallen in love with flowers, nature and painting from early age, it was only natural to merge these factors together at some point, and by combining the aesthetic beauty of botany with her skills as a painter. It is documented that colors have an effect on the sensory system, and... [more]

Aukje Dekker Makes Patrons Decide When Her Paintings Are Finished—And It Could Cost Them   Pick-button-0f29c6c075c514ef3a12253f1d60018e

Aukje Dekker at Vriend van Bavink Project Space Pacific Place April 8th - April 23rd
Posted 3/29/16

I’m not a gambling man by nature, never quite understood the allure of the blackjack table or roulette wheel. But when Aukje Dekker invited me to a game of Stick or Twist I couldn’t resist. The game starts at 150 euro. Dekker’s ante is an empty canvas. When she adds something to the painting my deposit increases by 50 euro. At every stage she asks me whether I’ll “stick”—in other words, buy the work as is—or “twist,” and go for another round. I... [more]

VISUAL ART AND FABRICS (R)EVOLUTION
by

© Roberto Alborghetti-Mitrani Yarden The printing fabrics you see in this post don’t come or proceed from drawings, paintings or digitally made works. They come from realistic and abstract photos of torn and decomposed publicity posters, natural cracks and scratches, urban and industrial matters… They are part of a special series created and developed by me, Roberto Alborghetti (I’ve collected so far more than 90.000 pictures for my “Lacer/actions” proje... Five Senses
by
3/30/16 Posted 3/30/16

Five Senses? Why would I want them if Touch is weak when it goes through the invisible body. Smell is not offering enough of substitute for the freshness of the Himalayan peaks. Hearing is not needed when Soul is listening. Taste is all there is to Freedom. Vision, oh, vision… the blessing and curse! I'll leave it in this body, so I could see it better. [more]

My gallery

I have received a gift of colourful pallet of paints. Their cheerful substances Have inspired me to pick up a brush And paint my world! O, child, how blessed you are With the radiance of your innocence! But with every line on the canvas The colours are merging, They change, They run away from pure essence! No, please remain contoured, defined and true… Yet the paper of destiny is calling for them… And they flow. Am I each colour? Are they all me? Perhaps, the brush of... [more]

Which Path
by
3/30/16 Posted 3/30/16

Which Path is the hardest? It is not the one which we see in the mountains, Not the one that goes along the forest, Not the one that takes us for a stroll among the fields… I wish…it would be… Yet it is the Path of our daily lives. We are always busy going somewhere on this invisible Path… [more]

Can you hear?
by

Can you hear the notes in the wind? Do you know the whisper of the falling snow? Do you feel the joy of trickling in a tiny stream? This is how our human Souls connect with each other… [more]

…And so he asks ‘do you see that distant star? Its beauty is in the darkness.’ …And I answer: thanks to the star I know what darkness is. Where is my star? Can I find it amidst every twinkling dot there is? Yes, if I would only remember I am not a planetarium viewer. [more]

When I Am Working I am Exploring
by
3/30/16 Posted 3/30/16

Dorothy L Merk When I am working, I am not worrying about what other people think and feel, I am exploring my most mundane feelings. The purpose of my work is to take the ordinary and transform it into a universal feeling or expression. My work is applicable to all people because it transcends our basic existence and expresses a real humanness and spirituality. The result is the truth and the beauty of truth that is universal. I Love
by
3/30/16 Posted 3/30/16

Dorothy L Merk I love the beauty of the exquisite line, elegant composition, the artist touch and the rapture of the stroke of the pen or brush. It is the love that inspires me to become excited by a strong emotion and to try to move through it to this place of the universal understanding and freedom I bring to the viewer. [more]
