A high contrast abstract painting using several abstract elements to create the optical illusion of a 3-D pattern. Deep jewel toned transparent areas of color are combined in a pattern with flatter lighter and less saturated opaque areas to create the illusion of areas that stick out from the canvas and areas that recede into the canvas. These colored spaces are offset and defined by a bold linear pattern of dark opaque lines, overpainted with deep jewel-toned transparent impasto.
