> DESCRIPTION

On any given Sunday you can stop by Bridgeport’s The Orphanage for independent music; good art; and a delicious, bottomless vegetarian buffet.

But from Sunday, Dec. 7th through Sunday, Dec. 28th you can add one other must-see to The Orphanage’s docket: we’ll be hosting our first-ever Photo Jam, showcasing five Chicagoland photographers of diverse talents, tastes and styles.

That includes everything from the ethereally surreal to documentary street photography and even macabre set pieces.

Now in its fourth year, The Orphanage began when Mark Wardo –  founder, chef and resident drummer –  transformed his band’s practice space into an environment whereby other creative personalities could come to create, share, participate, eat, look, listen, dance and enjoy.

With the help of a few dedicated volunteers, including art curator Ellie Sorokin, The Orphanage offers a monthly rotating artist gallery, house artist gallery, 4-6 acts a night (music, spoken word, multimedia, dance, etc.), full veggie buffet, coffee and tea – all covered by the $10 donation. The Orphanage is open every Sunday from 7 p.m. to midnight and is located at 643 West 31st Street – on the Second Floor of First Trinity Church.
