DECAY: THE CITY AND SOCIAL STRUCTURES, NEW PAINTINGS BY ROBERT SEBANC AT RUMBLE ARTS CENTER

Rumble Arts Center proudly presents "Decay: The City and Social Structures, New Paintings by Robert Sebanc" from July 12 to August 9, 2013.  We invite the community for an opening reception on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 6 to 9 pm.  This is a free event and is open to the public.

Robert Sebanc presents new large-scale paintings contrasting coarse and rough imagery with delicate materials in our storefront and third floor galleries.  About his latest work Sebanc says, "I make use of urban observations and experience to suggest the dark and heavy decay of cities.  My investigations into urban decay deal with the vulnerability and eventuality of social structures along with the actions that take place within them."

Robert Sebanc is a internationally exhibited painter and mixed media artist living and working in Chicago, IL.  He received his BFA and MAAE from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is currently a MFA candidate at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University.  Among several exhibitions in Chicago, his work has also been included in Windsor Whitney Biennial inNew York, NY; International Multimedia Artist Exhibition, Rebellion at the Museo del Brigantaggio, Itri in Latina, Italy; and Flag Stop: Alternative contemporary art event in Los Angeles, CA.

Our galleries are curated with the help from one of our partner organization's, Insight Arts, a contemporary arts organization dedicated to increasing access to cultural work that supports progressive social change.  Sebanc's opening reception is a part of Insight Arts' monthly cultural event series Nights of Insight.

Rumble Arts Center, located at 3413 W. North Avenue in Humboldt Park, provides an accessible cultural space that facilitates the empowerment and education of individuals and communities.  Our Center provides for a variety of programs in arts education, exhibitions, and cultural events and free to sliding-scale program opportunities for all ages.  Rumble, an independent non-profit organization, receives support from private and public sources including a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
