> DESCRIPTION

Mind and Reality is an international print exchange portfolio featuring the work of thirty two professional artists associated with the University of Wales's College of Fine Arts in Sydney, NSW and the school of the Art Institute in Chicago. The exchange will take place November 18th at Roxaboxen and March 2011 in Sydney at the CoFA space.

Each printer was asked to create a 11x15 inch print in an edition-able medium on a stable archival ground. Given these basic guidelines, the works created were remarkable and diverse, with pieces ranging from graphite to screen-printed water color.

The theme, Mind and Reality, refers to the disconnection and cross-pollination that occurs in the interstices between the mind's and mental functions; for example, in the space where the relationships between dreams, memory, and the happenings of everyday life are mapped. The theme was chosen to guide the creation of work expressing the concepts emotions, and possibilities evoked by dreams and suggestive virtual realities in which the mind believes it is awake in space of non-reality. The exhibitions seeks to explore the differing perceptions of subjectivity on both a global and personal scale.
