Logan Square Chamber of the Arts presents the Curators’ Showcase

Arts Center, Logan Square-Avondale , launched by the Logan Square Chamber of the Arts and

located  in the newly renovated Hair Pin Lofts  Building, 2800 North Milwaukee Avenue,  has

scheduled  its second exhibit of fine art for October.  The exhibit, titled “Curators’ Showcase

Exhibit” is a part of Chicago Artist’s month and will show the work of community based arts

leaders;  artists who are also curators.  This exhibit is a way to thank the curators for

their  involvement the local arts community and to draw attention to their talents.

Featured Artists include: Flash ABC, Jennifer Hines, Jenn Grossman, Tracy Kostenbader, Laura

Kurtenbader, Beth LeFauve,  Jane Michalski , Lucy Mueller, Emily Rutledge,  Ryan Scheidt, and

Brett Swinney. Media include Video, Sound and Light Installation as well as photography and

painting. The  Arts Community in Logan Square  has come to life in recent years because of the

work of local artists . Volunteer curators are instrumental in the success of the Milwaukee

Avenue Arts Festival and other exhibition as well as local pop up ,window galleries and

coffee houses. Most of the curators are artists themselves and have given unselfishly of their

time and creative energy. The grass roots nature of these artists' involvement is one of the key

factors in the growing excitement around the visual arts in this neighborhood.  Artists have

come together to plan events, creating new networks and working collaboratively to produce

them. The Curator's Showcase is a way to celebrate their accomplishments.

The Reception will feature “Light on Lines” a live Light and Sound installation produced by Ryan

Scheidt  with audio collaborator, Wes Immel.
