Logan Square Chamber of the Arts presents the Curators’ Showcase
Arts Center, Logan Square-Avondale , launched by the Logan Square Chamber of the Arts and
located in the newly renovated Hair Pin Lofts Building, 2800 North Milwaukee Avenue, has
scheduled its second exhibit of fine art for October. The exhibit, titled “Curators’ Showcase
Exhibit” is a part of Chicago Artist’s month and will show the work of community based arts
leaders; artists who are also curators. This exhibit is a way to thank the curators for
their involvement the local arts community and to draw attention to their talents.
Featured Artists include: Flash ABC, Jennifer Hines, Jenn Grossman, Tracy Kostenbader, Laura
Kurtenbader, Beth LeFauve, Jane Michalski , Lucy Mueller, Emily Rutledge, Ryan Scheidt, and
Brett Swinney. Media include Video, Sound and Light Installation as well as photography and
painting. The Arts Community in Logan Square has come to life in recent years because of the
work of local artists . Volunteer curators are instrumental in the success of the Milwaukee
Avenue Arts Festival and other exhibition as well as local pop up ,window galleries and
coffee houses. Most of the curators are artists themselves and have given unselfishly of their
time and creative energy. The grass roots nature of these artists' involvement is one of the key
factors in the growing excitement around the visual arts in this neighborhood. Artists have
come together to plan events, creating new networks and working collaboratively to produce
them. The Curator's Showcase is a way to celebrate their accomplishments.
The Reception will feature “Light on Lines” a live Light and Sound installation produced by Ryan
Scheidt with audio collaborator, Wes Immel.
The exhibit will take place October 8, 2011- November 20,2011
