> DESCRIPTION

Voces, a performative installation by Mandy Cano Villalobos, will be on view at Roxaboxen Exhibitions October 8th - October 29th. This installaion addresses the femicides of Chihuahua, Mexico through the commemorative ritual of sewing. Beginning with the first documented victims in 1993, Cano sits in the gallery silently embroidering the name of each woman. Shrines and missing persons posters line the gallery walls. Cano will perform during the opening on October 8th and the closing on October 29th.

A reception for Voces will be held October 8th, 6-9pm. Admission is free. Roxaboxen Exhibitions holds gallery hours Saturdays 12-3pm.
