> DESCRIPTION

The Schneider Gallery is pleased to present its summer exhibition, “Known Artists, New Works”.  The show will feature the latest work from some of our represented artists, among them are: Luis Gonzalez Palma, RES, Lalla Essaydi, Chen Nong, and Ursula Sokolowska.

Luis Gonzalez Palma presents Escenas for the first time in Chicago.  The body of work addresses his past and how it relates to the present.  He constructs this new work by using some older and some recent photographs to produce a new statement.  RES’ new work from the series Bicentenario, includes a diptych and two triptychs celebrating the city of Rosario, located in the Province of Santa Fe, Argentina.  Lalla Essaydi takes us to the Dar al Basha Palace of Morocco.  In this new series, Harem, Essaydi matches her models dress to the inside of the highly decorative palace walls.  She explores the historical significance of the interior rooms, restricted only to family members.  Chen Nong carefully crafts thematic scenes using black and white photography on watercolor paper.  Each print becomes unique as he hand-paints with radiant colors over the printed images.  Ursula Sokolowska has expanded her work in portraiture to include Chicago and many of its neighborhoods.  Her illuminated subjects and scenes spark numerous visual curiosities.

“Known Artists, New Work” will present various themes, subjects and concepts, that our artists are presently exploring.  We are pleased to have been able to gather these diverse images in one show.  Please join us as we celebrate our photographers in their most recent endeavors.
