Max Garett (b. New York)
In unlikely combinations, Max Garett presents an anachronistic history through compiling symbols and icons from multiple cultures into objects. Using formal similarities to connect a wide variety of iconographic figures, Garett pairs characters from ancient mythologies with those from a newer history. These improbable objects invoke nostalgia for an era that never existed.
Education: BFA, concentration in sculpture, School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) Chicago, IL, 2008 – 2012.
Max Garett was chosen as a Juried Winner in Round #8 of the 2013 ArtSlant Showcase series.
