Powerful Work

Davida Schulman investigates herself as a large, middle-aged matron through paintings, watercolors, and prints. Her stark self-portraits, usually executed sans clothing, are antithetical to prevailing cultural perceptions about the ideal feminine image. Schulman accepts herself as she is. These works also introduce audiences to the artist's work environment of the studio and the domestic atmosphere of her home.
