Veronica Bruce (b. 1982, Chicago, IL)
Veronica Bruce’s multifaceted studio practice speaks of her desire and the search for connection and meaning in the everyday. Bruce relies on the daily evolution of circumstance to inform her work. In all formats she draws attention to the transformation and energetic diffusion of past remnants, whether it be the debris of the studio from her own process of making, accumulated personal items such as her Grandmother’s furniture or used wrapping paper from Christmas, or ordinary, found materials which cross her path. Her use of these objects draws attention to the beauty and recognition of the moment of transformation as well as the perspective that all histories have purpose.
In 2012, Veronica was selected as artist in residence at threewalls in Chicago and Bundanon Trust in New South Wales, Australia.
Education: Master of Fine Arts in Painting, University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA, December 2011. Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education, University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign, IL, December 2004.
Veronica Bruce was chosen as a Juried Select Winner in Round #2 of the Showcase Series.
