This is Craig Norton’s first Solo show in Chicago and he has really impressed the audience with his Mixed Media three dimensional Wall Art.
In Dropping Mom Off at the Old folks Home, Norton draws attention to the insecurities that come with old age. He also highlights the mentality of our society towards old people. We think of them as an outcast and neglect them.

The ongoing exhibition of Judith Giechman’s work at the Carrie Secrist Gallery is a series of abstract works in Grayscale. She has taken the paper/canvas on an adventure where she explores the materiality by various mark making techniques, playing with the flow of paints, gestural movements, drips and layering. On Thursday 26 April, I attended the opening reception of Forms & Fragments at the InterContinental Chicago O'Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. My expectations of classic "Motel Room Art" and a tacky "Starving Artist Sale" quickly dissipated upon entering The Art Museo section of the lobby. The visual arts scene in Chicago dispenses doses of exhilaration and frustration in equal measure. Not a month goes by when I don’t encounter a new artist producing engaging and substantive work. At the same time, the number of established galleries exhibiting such artists remains stubbornly small. While alternative spaces in the region do a good job picking up the slack, most do not have the connections or resources to promote their artists to a wider audience of collectors and curators.

How much attention do you pay to the art hung in your doctor's office?
If your doctor's office is anything like mine, the works are probably purchased in bulk from a single artist, someone unlikely to be exhibited in River North or even in some of the most commercial galleries on Michigan Avenue. It's a safe bet that she or he is repped by some major conglomerate as opposed to a local dealer, and, visually, it's probably pretty vague — uncomplicated, easy on your peripheral vision as you're...
