Art and the Information Age
by
8/4/15 Posted 8/4/15

It was interesting for me to observe how people relate to paintings during my exhibition. Sometimes people would walk in, take a quick spin around and come up to ask me what I wanted to say, ignoring the artists statement pinned to the wall and titles of works even. "This is very interesting", I heard, "what does it mean" and look up expectantly at me to be entertained and shared information with. We as a society have become gluttons for information and are unhappy if for a moment the information sn... [more]

Time for a cup of tea

This week, I have got to that stage where I am in dire need of a brew. My trusty callus protector is doing a fine job but I have been denying myself breaks from drawing, which has lead to a sore hand that now resembles more of a claw. Sometimes, I just get so involved in drawing and lose track of the time. When glancing at the clock, I think “just 5 more minutes, then I’ll take a break”. Inevitably, another hour passes and I tell myself the same thing, “just 5 minutes... [more]
