UP is a fanzine dedicated to a singular and subjective love of the built.
For four Sundays during the month of March, UP opens the doors of La Loge for afternoon discussions about architecture and design with invited guests, extending the mode of their zine off the page and into event form.
For the occasion, UP will refurbish La Loge's exhibition space into a bar setting, replete with selected designer furniture and artworks.
As your bartenders, hosts, and fellow fans, UP warmly welcomes you all.
Alongside the event series, UP will publish four new zine issues in March looking at significant and fascinating architectural works. Following UP's editorial approach, each new issue will feature a photographic record made by a collaborator of a single piece of architecture that inspires them, investing in photagraphy's ability to both record and critically respond to that which it portrays. The new issues of UP will be launched at La Loge during the Sunday afternoon events.
UP is a sporadically released and informally distributed Belgian-based fanzine dedicated to architecture initiated by artist Koenraad Dedobbeleer and architect Kris Kimpe.
Sixteen issues have been published since 2006, featuring photographs by Dedobbeleer and Kimpe, and others.
Sunday discussion guests include:
Lorenzo Benedetti (curator & director of De Vleeshal, Middelburg)
Werner Feiersinger (artist & publisher, Vienna)
Fredi Fischli (co-curator of Studiolo & ETH, Zürich)
Philip Metten (artist, Antwerp)
Niels Olsen (co-curator of Studiolo & ETH, Zürich)
Gerrit Oorthuys (architecture lover and connoisseur, Amsterdam)
Susanne Titz (curator & director of Museum Abteiberg, Monchengladbach)
and others to be announced.
