> DESCRIPTION
For his first exhibition in Belgium, Kristof Kintera (Praha, 1973) presents artworks that mainly explore the boundaries of contemporary sculpture. His practice range from public installations to small kinetic devices. He also deals with the reification of material and transformation of everyday objects that both convey anthropomorphically referenced attitudes. Kintera embraces existantialist issues questioning the place of humans in their natural and/or artificially created environment. he investigates current complexities in a globalized context including social tensions, urbanism, consumerism, etc. His artworks permanently generate a conflict between the personal and the global along with polarities such as attractiveness and rejection. Kintera's interventions are voluntarily provocative, subversive, melancholic, schizophrenic and refer to the ready-made and various styles such as mannerism, surrealism, caricature, etc.

Kristof Kintera lives and works in Praha. He was resident at Rijksakademie Amsterdam (2003-2004). His work has been largely exhibited in international institutions such as : Bonn's Kunstmuseum, Berlin's Hamburger Bahnhof, Herford's MARTa, Prague's Museum City Gallery, Ludwig Museum in Budapest, Mikkeli Art Museum (Finland), Stockholm's Moderna Museet, Casino Luxembourg, Rockefeller Plaza New York, Rosenblum Collection Paris, Prague Biennial (I and II).
