There is something mysterious about the silent humanity which NK captures with his camera. Shadows dominate the occasional light.   The everyday life he photographs is the life on film sets, the life of his friends. The subject matter consists of the aesthetic which he selected for each of his photo series. Banal things become dramatic, heroic or dark. Image becomes fiction.
Nicolas is part of a generation of post-Cold War artists. There is nothing political, nothing avant-garde about his work. Instead an identity filters through, shot after shot. He is a prolific photographer, posting photo series over several weeks on his blog, with an emphasis on continuity and quality.

Only the photographer’s point of view counts. Technique is not a skill you own, you need to share it. He always provides technical information about each picture he publishes. Each photo is unique, like a painting, and he only prints each photo once.
He likes to experiment with photography and with the creative aspect of it, rather than with the technical aspect with which he is familiar as a DOP. Naturally he always finds subjects to photograph on film sets. The sets, the actors and the travel account for a lot of his inspiration.
But he does not limit himself to his working environment. As a photographer he also likes to photo his friends and family. Other worlds that inspire him are rock music and the visual arts.
