Bozar - Palais des beaux-arts de Bruxelles

Photos from where changes, induced by events of great consequence, occur over decades with their outcomes surfacing almost invisibly. From places where absence appears as a result of presence. Where forgetting is not final; where the lost past is still alive. We know that the time of individual worlds being formed at various points of a given space – however close these points may be geographically, - varies within one time-stream. There are places where one segment of space, like an island, would entail all that has passed, preserving all that has already disappeared from somewhere else: people, buildings, landscapes. Lives. Tamas Dezso turns this notion into photos as he condenses the series of millions of moments into visible silence by exposing the loss and all that has remained.

The exhibition’s curator is Gabriella Csizek, artistic collaborator of the Hungarian House of Photography.

The exhibition is realized through the collaboration between the Hungarian House of Photography – Mai Manó House and the Balassi Institute in Brussels.

Photos venant des endroits où les changements, provoqués par des événements d’importante conséquence, se produisent après des décennies ayant des résultats presque invisibles. Des endroits où l’absence apparaît comme un résultat de présence. Où l’oubli n’est pas final, où le passé perdu est encore vivant. Nous savons que le temps des mondes individuels, formés aux points différents d’un espace donné, peu importe la distance entre ces points, se varient dans une seule coulée de temps. Il existe des endroits où un segment de l’espace, comme une île, implique tout ce qui s’est passé tout en gardant tout ce qui sont déjà disparus d’ailleurs : des gens, des bâtiments, des paysages, des vies.Tamas Dezso change cette notion en photos en condensant des séries de millions de moments en silence visible en exposant la perte et tout ce qui reste.

La commissaire de l’exposition est Gabriella Csizek, collaboratrice artistique la Maison Hongroise de la Photographie.

L’exposition est réalisée en partenariat avec la Maison Hongroise de la Photographie – Maison Mai Manó, Budapest, en collaboration avec l’Institut Balassi de Bruxelles.

Foto’s vanwaar veranderingen, geïnspireerd door invloedrijke gebeurtenissen, zich voltrekken over decennia en hun uitkomst het onzichtbare weerspiegelen. Vertrekkende vanuit plaatsen waar de afwezigheid zichtbaar wordt als een uitwerking van de aanwezigheid. Waar vergeten niet definitief is; waar het verleden nog steeds in leven is. We zijn ons bewust dat de tijd van iedere individuele wereld gevormd op verschillende punten in de ruimte- eender hoe dicht deze punten geografisch zijn, - varieert binnenin één tijdslijn. Er zijn plaatsen waar één element van de ruimte, zoals een eiland, alles wat passeert absorbeert, alles bijhoudt hetgeen ergens anders reeds verloren ging: mensen, gebouwen, landschappen. Levens. Tamas Deszo transformeert deze begrippen in foto’s net als hij miljoenen momenten in zichtbare stilte condenseert door het verlies, en wat hiervan rest, te etaleren.

De tentoonstelling werd gerealiseerd in samenwerking met Maison Hongroise de la Photographie – Huis Mai Manó, Budapest, en in samenwerking met het Instituut Balassi te Brussel.
