Royal Museum for Central Africa

This exhibition displays the results of the Body Mapping  project in Kenya. During workshops people who are HIV positive were given the opportunity to express their life with HIV through life-size paintings and personal accounts. They were able to draw enormous strength from this.Body Mapping is an attempt to combat the prejudices surrounding HIV/AIDS. The exhibition Our Bodies, Our stories in the RMCA has sixteen of these testimonies on display.

Deze expo toont het resultaat van het project Body Mapping in Kenia. Tijdens workshops krijgen seropositieven de gelegenheid hun leven met hiv te uiten in levensgrote schilderijen en persoonlijke verhalen. Hieruit putten ze een enorme kracht.Body Mapping tracht op deze manier ook de vooroordelen rond hiv/aids te bestrijden. De tentoonstelling Our Bodies, Our stories in het KMMA toont zestien van deze getuigenissen.

L’expo présente le résultat d’un projet kenyan, Body Mapping, qui proposait à des personnes séropositives, lors d’ateliers, d’exprimer comment ils vivent avec le VIH, à travers des peintures grandeur nature et des récits personnels. Ils en ont retiré une force extraordinaire.

Body Mapping espère aussi lutter de cette façon contre les préjugés relatifs au VIH/Sida. L’exposition Our Bodies, Our stories présentée au MRAC seize de ces témoignages.
