This symposium proposes to bring together creative experts, policy makers, technologists, artists, companies and researchers from various backgrounds to discuss these issues.

DAY PROGRAM

DOORS / 9:45

OPENING SESSION/ 10:15 - 10:20
Presentation and Introduction of the symposium and participating partners (E.C.A.S. - ICT ART CONNECT - ART&D - iMinds) by
Paul Dujardin (BE) , BOZAR general artistic director
Ralph Dum (AT), European Commission DG CONNECT

KEYNOTES / 10:20 - 11:10
ICT ART CONNECT WORLDVIEW
presented by Luis Miguel Girao (PT), ICT ART

PRESENTATION / 11:25 - 11:40
Art Industries. In a world frequently described as globalised and without borders, we are paradoxically witnessing an increase in border walls in various regions worldwide. What are the causes and consequences of this phenomenon?

As an extension of the exhibition "The Wall and the Fear. India-Bangladesh", three speakers will share their views on this issue in a conference organised by Amnesty International.

Michel Foucher, professor of geography at Lumière University Lyon 2, member of the Scientific Council of the Robert Schuman Foundation and author of L’obsession des frontières (2007), will provide an informed analysis of this geopolitical issue.

Also contributing to the conference will be the director of the Francophone Belgian section of Amnesty International, Philippe Hensmans. He will address the question of human rights in the often violent and repressive context of border walls.

Finally, Gaël Turine, photojournalist member of the Vu’ agency, and author of a number of works, includingAvoir 20 ans à Kaboul (2005) and Voodoo (2010), will bring us an eyewitness account of the daily lives of the border inhabitants on either side of the wall erected between India and Bangladesh.

For information and reservations contact Lauranne Winant, Monday to Friday, on 02 226 12 18 or at
