Alongside a thematic interest in the issue, the question of the staging of a video work and the particularities of reception is often fascinating: how to present an art work in an adequate fashion and how to create an environment that allows for the optimal access to a work in a collection, at an art fair, at an exhibition?
As varied the forms of video art today are, and as rapidly as current developments progress, there is still no clear answer to the question of what is the best form of presentation. A work can function on a handy display, another work might work best as a loop in a museum space, while a third is best seen on a monitor and headphones.
»Videoart at Midnight« explores video works in the cinema as a frame of reference: watching of single channel works in community, works with beginning and end, mostly narrative, projected on a big screen and with all the harmonics of cinema.
In cooperation with Babylon at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Olaf Stüber and Ivo Wessel invite you to come and share their obsession. As monthly as possible, always on a Friday, always at midnight.
