The ongoing project Idle in Berlin portraits "voluntary" EU migrants living one of the most fundamental principles of the European Union – freedom of movement of citizens. Yet often this legislative freedom turns out not to be reflected in actual, everyday freedom of movement. After arriving to a new country and initial excitement of the new, they try to set wheels in motion, but nothing happens. I interview a participant and stage a situation, that best describes the feeling, that she or he felt when rejected by the new city.
The exhibition is part of Turbo Tuesday, weekly art event, showcasing emerging artists new to Berlin. The event is organised by VAGE Collective, a community of international artists working with a variety of mediums and coming from all walks of life. VAGE operates as a network for artists to share skills and knowledge while inspiring one another in unique locations.
