After the earthquake\, tsunami and the subsequent nuclear power plant accident in Fukushima\, the Japanese artist Leiko Ikemura the question of the importance of art in such a moment. The KW Institute for Conte mporary Art in Berlin break from given occasion\, the exhibition series KW6 9 and provide the space for an interdisciplinary discourse available.

Leiko Ikemura invites artists to respo nd to the disaster in Japan and the conflict between nature\, progress\, ec onomics and human to examine. The exhibition presents works that reflect the current situati on in Fukushima and northern Japan and to question our attitude to the eart h and the cycle of creation and destruction.

The exhibition is the first in a series of interdisciplinary theme parties and discussions with architects in different locations in Berlin on the subject reconstruc tion\, emergency shelter\, energy efficiency and nuclear energy. To provide practical support to the affected people in Japan is planning a benefit auction for Leiko Ikemur a fall of 2011.
