Alison Woods, Utopia Machine, 2013, acrylic on canvas, 46" x 48".
Alison Woods is a painter whose work transforms digital information into aesthetic, phenomenological, and material meditations in paint. Her work draws from high tech, exploring a hybrid form of painting that is haunted by the future. She uses the computer to research, process and consolidate, to create impossible geometries, to scramble and recontextualize information. She generates new codes and new patterns of complexity from within technology itself. She transforms the digital into the tangible materiality of paint.
