Ilse Schreiber-Noll (b. Germany)

My books, paintings, woodcuts and installations are diaries and visual documents of history. They speak of the tragedy of war and the threat of ecological disasters. The heavy encrusted surfaces of my painted work contain residues of nature, such as sand, ashes, plants and objects. With this I attempt to generate a strong sense of physical presence which demonstrates the obliteration humans have and still are bringing to our land and environment and the pain of the people who once inhabited it and whose livelihood has been taken away by the withering and pollution of nature.

Education: MFA, Purchase College SUNY, Purchase NY.

Ilse Schreiber-Noll was chosen as a Juried Winner in the 1st 2013 ArtSlant Showcase series.
