On September 23rd at 6PM Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz will give a lecture at the gallery on their new work Toxic. Afterwards there will be an Q&A with the artists.
The research and video project 'Toxic' was commissioned as a contribution to 'Intense Proximity' - the Paris Triennale 2012 - and opened with the start of the summer at La Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers in Paris. As the season turns to autumn, Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz discuss and reflect upon the project at its second presentation at Ellen de Bruijne Projects in Amsterdam.
The title of the session 'Are you happy?' calls with a double-voice to the cinéma véritéclassic 'Chronicle of a Summer' (1960) by Jean Rouch and Edgar Morin, as well as to the dramatic focal-point of 'Toxic'. Reading these together, the conversation will discussanthopo-logics and queer counter-consciouness in artistic production and display. The Q&A session is framed and facilitated by critic and curator Vivian Ziherl.
