> DESCRIPTION

We would like to invite you to join us for the finissage of our shows with Cevdet Erek
and Stephan Balkenhol on Sunday, December 18, 4 – 6 pm.

In 'Rulers and Rhythm Studies 2007-2011' Cevdet Erek presents his research in relation to time, rhythm and space. Between 2005 and 2007 the basics were laid for his practice which concentrates around the idea of open-ended, potentially continuous works. The most remarkable of this method of working forms his 'Rulers and Rhythm Studies' which stretches out through a period from 2007 when he first went to Cairo through 2011 when he was invited to participate at the 12th Istanbul Biennial.

In our Attachment we present an installation by Stephan Balkenhol which he specially created for our space.

AKINCI is closed between December 24, 2011 and January 10, 2012. Our first opening after the New Year will take place on January 14, 5-7 pm. After her exhibition ‘Rozen en Pistolen’ in Museum Het Domein, Sittard (NL) Charlotte Schleiffert will present in ‘Mr. Routledge and the Lions’ at AKINCI several of her recent drawings. In the Attachment Space we will present Kristen Geisler's 'First Virtual Birth', the birth of the first virtual woman who adapts to human ideas of beauty.
