Saturday the 13th of August will see the festive opening of our annually recurring show ‘Best of Graduates’. Once again a selection of around 20 of this years’ most talented graduating artists has been made from the Dutch art academies. A diverse selection of works will be presented, ranging from pure formalist paintingsphotography and sculptures, to installations documenting and manipulating the actions and attitudes of idiosyncratic elements of Dutch society. Guest curator Radek Vana and the Galerie Ron Mandos team selected:

From the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam: Lotte Reiman, Minke Nelissen, Jeppe Lauge, Mio Hanaoka, Bas van Wieringen en Andreas Albrectsen. Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, Utrecht: Emmanuel Adjei & Marleen Ozgur, Tycho van Zijderveld, Jonas Wijtenburg, Annette van den Toorn en Maarten van den Bos. Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten, Den Haag: Puck Verkade, Lisanne Hoogerwerf, Guido van der Linden, Ferenc Molnar en Anne Forest. Academie St. Joost, Den Bosch: Remco Bens en Femke Dekkers. Academie St. Joost, Breda: Fren Nabuurs, Olivier van Breugel, Niek Hendrix en Erik van Liere.

Participating artists stand at the beginning of their artistic careers and the ‘Best of Graduates’ show is conceived as to offer a springboard to enhance their visibility beyond the walls of the academy. We wish to further our involvement with these young artists with the ‘Ron Mandos Young Blood Award’. This prize consists of a sum of money and more importantly a presentation in the gallery or at an art fair in 2012. New to this years’ edition of the show will be the ‘Public’s Prize’ voted for by you.  The winners of both prizes will be announced on Saturday the 3rd of September in the gallery. More details will follow.
