MADD Dessert Bar
53 Rupert Street, London, W1D 7PH
Deadline: May 31, 2012
Fancy transforming a Central London bar with your own original artwork? Here’s your chance with the MADD Artist of the Year competition.
The brainchild of Ralph Monthienvichienchai and Jonathan Sivak, the MADD Dessert Bar in London’s Soho is a celebration of mangoes. Yep, that’s right - they’re keen to turn the fleshy, tropical fruit into the new cupcake and make them our treat of choice.
In Asia, dessert bars are as popular as our coffee shops and patisseries, and MADD (Mango Addiction) is a snippet of this Eastern culture with a creative twist.
The bar itself is already a festival of colour and innovation, and Ralph is keen to promote emerging creative talent by giving the winner of this competition the opportunity to create original wall and window vinyls. In the heart of Soho, it’s the perfect showcase.
To enter, simply download a postcard template here or get a hard copy from the store itself. Entries can be uploaded to the MADD Facebook or Twitter page, or handed in in-store. The entries will be narrowed down to the top 10, then two judges, myself and Niran Vinod editor of Yin and Yang, will pick our top three, which will then be posted on Facebook. The winner will be the design with the most ‘Likes’ from these three.
Not only will the winning design have maximum exposure, but the guys at MADD will throw in a year’s worth of their mango treats. Having sampled some of them, I can say that it’s worth a shot just for this!
There’ve already been some impressive entries so far… you’ve got until 31st May to get your doodling, designing or painting.
